Although I have more to write here as the years pass, I feel like writing less. Being an artist is a tricky thing, and defining oneself as such is dangerous in many ways. So…..

I am a husband, a father, a guitarist, a songwriter, a documentary filmmaker, a cyclist, a teacher, a painter, and a poet who reads a lot, and watches too many films. I have released a bunch of records, both on my own label called Mudita (which means the opposite of jealousy) and on other labels. I have made a few films, some of which have played a bunch of festivals, others that have not. I have ridden my bicycle across the country. I have made music with some people you have heard of, and many more you have not heard of. I tend to value the ones you’ve not heard of more, as they are some of my very closest friends.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and spent much of my ‘musical youth’ involved in the Berkeley punk rock scene at 924 Gilman Street, which still influences me today. I fell in love with flamenco, lived in Spain, and discovered free improvisation and the sixties minimalist composers, all of which influence what I do heavily.

I just finished an MFA at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, Ny where I studied experimental music and film.
